Another email i got this week was a kitten-up-for-adoption one.

It was one of those mundane weekdays where nothing really spectacular happened, then that night i received that email with a picture attached to it – and it IMMEDIATELY lit up my day

I’m always on the lookout for these kitty adoption listings ’cause i REALLY REALLY WANT ONE LAAA. And this isn’t like an impulse thing, ive thought about getting one for months now! What’s basically holding me back, is my immense fear of accidentally killing the little bugger. I believe this stems from the fact that ive never had a pet in my house, EVER. And my parents’ relentless disapproval towards any of us getting a pet, since young; one infamous argument i had with my mum (at roughly age 9 or so) that caused me to storm off petulantly, “Mummy you wait, when i grow up im gonna open a ZOO!”


And with that, my childhood dreams of owning my own zoo shall start with a single kitty :) Back to my email, i quickly began googling on how to care for a cat. Doesn’t sound too difficult, they seem to be fairly low-maintenance… but i don’t know, i’ve still got a lot of What-If’s flying around in my head, where to keep it, in my room (messy) or the house (massive for a kitten, can’t keep an eye on it?), and if in my room, will it poop everywhere and make my room SMELL like a zoo -_-

I began asking friends all my questions too. Some were helpful, while others…

Doesn’t exactly help either when Murni, Jezmine, Gwen, Jenhan, Lim & many others are posting pictures of their precious kittens on Instagram and everywhere all the time, calling upon my #crazycatlady instincts to join them soon… hehe.

I dunno. Well that’s what’s been occupying my mind lately, no promises that i will in fact get one soon, but no promises that i won’t either… Consider this fair warning so if i do finally decide to do it, you won’t be too surprised!


Oh and any tips for me on how to care for cats, or even IF i should get one; would be most helpful :) and anymore cat adoption listings too, send em my way!
Lastly, if anyone is interested in adopting the 2 cats in the picture above, let me know and i’ll send you the contact person to call. That’s if i haven’t decided to adopt them myself yet ;)

Only to find that i did the exact same thing last year Seems like the final 2 months of the year are always busy. I discussed this phenomenon with a friend/ fellow blogger recently. Year-ends are always a mad-busy period for work, and jam packed with social events/birthdays/holidays etc; and with whatever’s left of your time, you just want to spend it chilling with family, friends, or even just by yourself. My favourite me-time moments recently consist of nail polish and/or face masks; Christmas music in the background (Christmas ain’t over, there’s 12 days of Christmas or something right? RIGHT!), and spending hours on Youtube and/or 9gag LOL’ing to myself like a crazy person. IT FEELS GREAT.

My point is, with your down-time, you’re not always in the mood to write something funny or creative, and edit photos all day. Howeverrrr, today i did wake up jumped out of bed in the mood to blog and stuff. The timing is completely typical of me, though. My final day in KL and i really need to tie up some loose ends, last minute errands, attend a belated-Christmas dinner party tonight, pack for my trip, sleep and be ready by 6am, only then i’ll be in the mood to blog. Very goooood.

A night filled with beautiful people, and beautiful things. I was graciously invited to the grand opening of Michael Kors’ 2-story flagship store at Pavilion last week, and here are some snaps of just a few of the things that I’m lusting over. That last picture is credited to Syats; as Sheryl and I were caught in the horrible rain and traffic jam, and barely missed the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The best part was when we left the store and made our way to Sultan’s Lounge for the after party, we spotted a lady who zoomed past us head-to-toe clad in brand new Michael Kors merchandise. Literally. Head. To. Toe. From the sequin dress to the tan heels, the croc skin handbag, right down to the new MK watch. I’ve got a feeling there’s a new pair of shades in that bag somewhere. Sheryl & I looked at each other knowingly – “Some day.” ;)

Sometimes, when you’re having difficulty expressing yourself, you find song lyrics (or in my case, a chance encounter with a blog post by twitchvintage) to express them for you. It’s comforting to know that somewhere out there, someone is going through things that i’m going through. Slightly eerie that it’s so spot on, though.


I am physically and mentally drained. I hate taking breaks/hiatuses, and the fact that i have to now, is driving me mad with guilt. A lot has indeed gone on in my life recently, and as a result, my blog, and primarily An Old Flame shop has suffered for weeks now. Ironically, what’s slowly pulling me out of my hiatus is more work – but some of these are really exciting & inspiring upcoming projects so that’s good news :) Currently im being *extremely* picky with the projects being proposed to me (as if i wasn’t picky enough in the past!). Not trying to be fussy or whatever, but i want to give my all for any and every project i work with, and temporarily my all is not as much as it used to be.


Aside from that, what’s keeping me sane is music, music, and a lot of new music (it certainly soothes this savage beast!) whether it’s at home or at parties. Also a lot of chamomile tea. And prayer. And chats with friends, some of whom are undeniably some of the strongest and most inspiring women i know.


I always thought being a non-sharer (and therefore non-spreader) of problems & negative energy was a good thing, but now im thinking twice. Well anyway, so this is your resident superwoman telling you that, superpowers need a break sometimes. And that she’s working on it :) Life can be hard. And with the really hard stuff, sometimes it’s not a matter of finding ways to deal with it; but to survive, give it time, and soldier on. And come back guns ablazing.

Still currently iPhone-less, i’ve had to improvise if i ever want to send quick pictures through the internet.

I did a thing for Wrangler x Tongue in Chic in July, due to be published in September.
I hinted about it here and here, so you might’ve figured it out already :)

It’s a simple project, style up a pair of jeans in 5 ways. I knew i was gonna have some fun with this one, ’cause as much as i love playing dress up, on my off-days i am quite the ultimate jeans gal. Took to the AOF studio where, for the first time i was in front of the camera, instead of my comfort zone that is behind.

It was fun! I ended up experimenting with about 7-8 looks altogether ;) For this project i was trying to give you a wider variety, and emphasizing practicality as well.
The 5 looks chosen are published on the TiC website, and here’s 2 more that didn’t quite make the cut.



Look 6: Casual Comfort

(Light slouchy off-shoulder top, Miraclewatts tote bag, beanie cap)

My go-to outfit for slow sundays. I tend to always dress how i feel, so on lazy days where i don’t want too much fuss on my outfit, this is pretty much it! Relax in an oversized slouchy shirt, and top it off with a beanie to go with a messy, unstyled head of hair. I wasn’t kidding you when i told you how lazy i can be with fashion.




Look 7: Festival Fab

We saw plenty of summer music festivals all around the world, and even had our very own Urbanscapes festival mid of this year. Crop tank tops to keep cool, and a big floppy hat to keep the sun away.
