Went downstairs to grab a quick bite last night at 2am and turned on the TV. And i saw one of the most mind-blowing performance I’ve ever seen in a really long time now.

I love that it’s so dark and weird and whimsical. Happy clown meets tormented soul.
For a moment there i thought it was Wade Robson’s cheoreography because this is somewhat similar to his previous one with Ramalama Bang Bang (if you haven’t watched it, WATCH NOW)
But found out this one is by Mia Michaels’, and i wasn’t too surprised either. I fricking love her work, my favourite contemporary cheoreographer of all time.

Ok coming back to this dance routine, i love the costumes! So crazy whimsical! Yet it’s all just black & white?
And it’s not just about the dance routine of steps and movements, it’s a whole show.
Everyone is deep in character from start to end, every little detail, from smiling and frowning (at 0:46), even just  walking off the stage they’re still deep in character.

Mia Michaels also chose a brilliant song to choreograph to. It’s a 6-count song (unlike your usual 8-counts) with plenty of half-counts and different depths to play with.

At 1:01, that strange human-structure at the back? How awesome is that! I love that part when the song slowed down, the dancer solo-ed singing her tormented heart out, and then back to the music with the men crying out loud. So. Damn. Powerful. Goosebumps, i tell you.


Sigh. Seeing stuff like these always makes me miss dancing.


Anyway better watch now, ’cause SYTYCD tends to remove their videos off YouTube after awhile.
Damn sad too, i cant watch all my favourite mind-blowing orgasmic SYTYCD dances anymore, they only live in my memories until today, everytime i hear Rockafeller Skank, i still think of Pasha & Sara’s west coast swing routine and want to get up and dance the crazies

   It’s actually from Season 4.U should really tune in to every episode of the whole season ‘cuz they did some really mind-blowing dances.This is my 2nd time watching this season ‘cuz I’d watched it in Australia last year.

   Ahhhh sytycd. Love love LOVE that show. Mia Michaels and Wade Robson are my 2 most beloved choreographers, although I have to say that Mia has the slight edge over Wade in recent years. Simply because I just adooooree her fluidity in choreography of movement, whereas Wade is a little more staccato. And I totally agree with you about the characters. Mia has this innate ability to bring emotion and character into the dancers she choreographs, and nearly every dance she choreographs will make you laugh, gasp, or cry. Ah damn, I’m rambling. In short, I LOVE MIA *fangirl voice*!
