Not something you see every day.
Been on a crazed Christmas shopping spree for the past few days.
I’m not usually this lazy or last minute, especially when it comes to Christmas shopping
But ACCA finals *always* end middle/late in December, hence postponing all my Christmas-spirit-relishing activities til thereafter. Which is… now!
Technically I still had about a week til Christmas, but I forgot about the Buri siblings Christmas dinner over the weekend
(celebrated earlier because they were all leaving for hometown Miri this week, so was David but turns out he has to work during Christmas, BLASPHEMY)
And so begins my rushed presents-hunting shopping spree, supposed to be focused only on the Buri family then, since I had *some* time to shop for my friends and family later.
But I ended up finding all sorts of rubbish treasures for EVERYONE.
This is exactly why I love Christmas shopping so much! I love it when I see something and think, “OMG that is so [insert name], must buy!”

Even for a couple of people I didn’t plan on getting anything, ’cause we’re not that close.
But I figured if it screams their name, they should have it anyway. And it’s nice buying people things, spread some happy pappy around

I buy pretty Christmas wrapping paper and David buys Optimus Prime ones -_-”
Rush like mad to wrap the Buri family’s presents, this was all happening about an hour before dinner time.

David: “Nevermind, simply wrap only”
Me: “Cannot! Presentation is still important!”
David: “Babe there’s no time, they’ll be home soon! And i even just wanted to put everything in a paperbag, but you scolded me just now.” *folds and cellotapes haphazardly*
Me: “…omaigoddd. Just make sure *my* present is wrapped nicely, ok? And i want a bow :)”

The doorbell rang at the moment David took this picture, indicating that they’re home
Which explains my “o__o oh sheet” face here, hahahahaah
Cleared everything quickly and got ready for dinner. David threw the last couple of unwrapped presents in paperbags and called it done -_- sheesh
This was a particularly special dinner, because we had 3 big things to celebrate:
1. Christmas dinner. The last get-together before they fly off to Miri, leaving David and I behind, boooo :(
2. His sister Jess had graduated!
3. And his brother Jon, who is supposed to be working overseas, had flown in to surprise his girlfriend tonight - with his presence, and a ring.
Surely the main event was #3, all of us were just as nervous and excited as he was before the proposal
It was so exciting! We’ve only ever heard about witnessing marriage proposals on TV, this one would be happening right before us, and their lives would change forever
*tears*

Jon and family friend Fraser, and their single malt whiskey to calm the nerves
Someone chose Il Tempio @ Tamarind Springs again, which was where David and I had been to earlier this year. Gorgeous place with great food, so we didn’t mind coming back here :)
Half of us arrived earlier to wait for Chingy (Ching Yee, Jon’s gf)’s arrival.

Underneath the rooftop restaurant, was a walkway by the green forest, and there was a clearing toward to the end. That’s where Jon decided to walk with her to and get down on one knee (gosh i still get chills saying that word
)
(Not that I’m in any way ready for marriage soon la, it’s just sweet! Bah. ok anyways moving on.)
As with most fail-proof surprise plans, something always goes wrong right before the event.
At the clearing where Jon would get down on one knee, (*chills*)
It was quite dark, so we asked the waiters to set candles down on the floor. I guess the waiters felt as anxious as we all were, because then they decided to trip and spill candle wax all over the floor -_-” omaigoddd
And then right on cue, Chingy calls to say she’s arrived and is parking her car.
Panic. Attack.
Fraser rushes to the parking lot to stall her, while we did damage control here. Not sure how the stalling went down, but I heard some funny excuses were given and she was totally suspicious, but she was stalled nevertheless
Soon, Jon and Chingy appears and walks down to the candle-lit forest walkway. The rest of us seated at out table hushed and peeked glances over the restaurant balcony, we had a pretty good view of what was going on!
David: “It’s still quite dark, cannot see anything in the camera!”
He was handling the video camera, ordered by their mom who wanted a video of his son’s proposal, LOL so cute
Me: “Well, maybe we should give them their privacy”
We were all still busy watching the proposal, so I guess privacy just meant no cameras
(but i caught the next couple of tables snapping photos of them, LOLOLOL)
Jon got down on one knee, and the next thing we knew, Chingy was hugging him. :)
Fraser: “Phewh! Thank god that’s all over, we can relax now. Let’s celebrate!”
We popped a couple of bottles of Moet and was merry all night long :)
