Was bumming at Cyndi’s place one night playing Nintendo Wii with the gang.
When it wasn’t my turn Cyndi gave me a magazine to read.
Frankie magazine.
I flipped through quickly to see the pictures and saw they weren’t exactly your average fashion pictures. Intrigued, I read the very first article in the magazine, a short note from the editor or something.

And I was hooked.

Didn’t put the magazine down til I finished the entire issue.

Haha. Cyndi saw this and brought out all the older issues for me to read :p

In a nutshell, Frankie is an Australian-based magazine, and definitely not your average fashion and beauty magazine you can find off any magazine racks.

When I first flipped through the pages I noticed the models actually looked like people, to say the least.
They weren’t your intimidatingly tall beautiful models and celebrities (aliens, as I’d like to call them because WTF where got people so tall skinny and beautiful wan!)
The models in Frankie are humans, lol. They look like ordinary approachable people, but nevertheless still breathtakingly stunning.

The fashion featured was not off-the-runway, not over-the-top where you normally think Hmph, only runway models can wear that.
Instead, I found really interesting, quirky looks, yet maintaining that down-to-earth wearable vibe of fashion.
MY type of fashion sense :) As you can see from Cool Sister’s Closet, I like to keep things simple with a certain subtle edge, and never OTT ;)

Then comes the best part, the articles. Along with very interesting reads, Frankie is delightfully rude, cute, funny, sarcastic, loving, curious, everything.
It’s about music, art, life, and all that inhibits it.

Remember that first article I read? The editor’s note or something.

It was about how tiny changes can have a big impact in your life. How you shouldn’t live life as a routine, although some old habits are good, you should try taking the world on a fresh new hue.
Like switching radio stations. Try a different hairstyle. Play a CD you haven’t properly listened to before. Buying new undies. Reorganize your wardrobe, colour code them perhaps. Reach for the brightest coffee mug from the cabinet.

Haha, don’t you just love it when you find something you can connect with completely?
And that was just the opening editor’s note.

:+:+:

Sadly, I’ve never seen this magazine selling in Malaysia before :(
But I was told to go check out places like Kinokuniya, and Frankie might be selling for RM40 for one issue, omg.

If anyone sees it, do let me know It just might be worth your RM40.
