The Maxis Venus Affair.
(Advertorial)
Last week, I was invited to attend the Maxis Venus Affair event @ Maxis Centre, Pavillion KL.
I had the option to visit the Maxis Centre KLCC, which is supposed to be larger with a greater customer base,
but I chose to do a write-up on Pavillion’s centre instead because I reckon not many people would choose to come here due to its smaller premise size.
But what was supposed to be a short visit turned out to be a full-on 2 hour exploration
I tagged HannahBanana along, since it was an event especially for ladies ;)
We arrived and noticed pink and white galore! Balloons, decor, flyers and posters, even flower petals on the floor of this girly shade splashed the entire place
Among the other special promotions, the event mainly focuses on their Maxis Broadband units, targeted at women.
Notice the limited edition pretty packaging!
Kudos to their creative team :)
This limited edition piece includes a versatile carrying case for the USB modem unit,
and a box reusable as a trinket box or make up case! Complete with an oh-so-necessary vanity mirror, of course ;)
The Maxis Broadband unit is basically a compact mini USB modem plugged directly into your laptop, enabling you instant internet connectivity.
And due to its cute pocketable size, it’s so portable and versatile! You can get internet coverage almost anywhere and everywhere. Just plug and play
So instead of having to find a Wi-Fi spot to surf the internet, just plug in the Maxis USB modem and voila ! Instant connectivity to the world wide web ;)
Best part of it all, you don’t have to buy the modem itself, which would cost you a bomb.
Maxis charges as low as RM138 per month for the modem + broadband subsciprtion
But during this Maxis Venus Affair event they only charge you a promotional price of RM100 for the first month!
With a lot of other sweet freebies like:
1. This limited edition pretty packaging, (ie. feminine little carrying case & a versatile pretty trinket box
)
2. Averine make up worth a minimum of RM48 each
3. A complete makeover from Aster Spring! Or if, like me, you think your make up techniques are awesome enough, you can opt for the free hand massage instead
4. RM100 cash voucher from Aster Spring!
5. Free photo printouts from Canon Selphy printers!
6. A copy of the latest Cleo magazine (to ogle over the hotties of Cleo’s Bachelors *cough*contestant no.8!*cough*) or a copy of Women’s Weekly magazine
I even challenged the Canon representative to print out a photo from my Sony camera on the spot
A picture from my birthday last week. No problem at all ;)
I spoke to the Maxis representative about the internet connection speed of the Maxis Broadband unit,
hey mobility is nice but if the internet speed is slow then no point fussing about it, right?
“Oh cool, so the Maxis Broaband Unit enables 3.5G! What’s the difference between 3G and 3.5G?”
He stared blankly at me and started going into a “Technology for Dummies” lecture.
“Okay 1Mb = 1000Kb…… 3G will enable you internet speed of up to 384Kbps, but 3.5G can go up to 3.6Mbps!……….”
hello i know that 1Mb = 1000Kb, sheeesh do i look like a complete dunggu. Sure made me feel like one.
Haha but I thought 3.6Mbps is bloody fast, considering that no fixed phone line is required! Such a powerful portable little gadget

Stylish handphone models on display suitable for ladies.
The Maxis rep then proceeded into the nitty gritty little details, but my mind wandered off for a bit. But I was polite and made sure my face looked really attentive and I nodded at strategic intervals
Then it hit me.
With this magical little thing, I will be able to blog at any time, anywhere.
No hassle of finding a Wi-Fi spot, no rushing home to the PC, no rushing home to find Debbie hogging the PC,
(which just happened today, btw. I came home and she was at the computer, and we argued over which was more important, her assignment or MY advertorial
guess who won.)
I don’t have to go all the way to Starbucks or any other expensive cafe’s with Wi-Fi, just so I can check my mail.
Heck, I can even blog while I’m stuck in a traffic jam, my goodness! Which of course is very dangerous and highly unrecommended, but hey I like having the option to do so
Speaking of having internet access while driving, this is also useful if I get lost driving in unfamiliar areas (which is 99% of the time). I can simply GoogleEarth my way home!
Gosh, the sky’s the limit!
/>This little epiphany had me grinning widely and I nodded enthusiastically, much to the delight of the Maxis rep.
They even offered to lend me their USB modem to blog on the spot
Unfortunately I don’t have a laptop at the mo, neither do I have those canggih high-tech handphones that can surf the net, like Jonming’s awesome iPhone blogging from Egypt all,
sigh why am I so outdated and uncool
*looks over at the pretty Dell laptops at the next booth*
I wanted to go home and immediately blog about this event, but I got so caught up with the junksale preparations and surprise extra / replacement classes in college

Free makeover from Aster Spring!
When we were about to leave, a group of people (Maxis officials, no doubt) came in through the entrance, and a lady starting giving out flowers
awh that was really nice.
Then she proceeded to take photos of me and Hannah, nudging her boss to join in the picture
(“Wah, must take photos of the pretty girls!”)
Mind you, there weren’t many other customers at the time to take pictures with.
We all had a laugh, and the boss was really chatty, we ended up chatting for more than half an hour :p
Thank you Maxis! The event was great, like a mini fun-fair, tee hee.

I’m using Maxis so call 3.5G online now,i’m not really getting 3.6Mbps. After some online speed test,i online have a normal 3G speed which is around 384Kbps…..
And.. Maxis will tell you not all area outside KL have 3.5G (eg. PJ, Damansara), but… i’m now in KL 3.5G area! Sweat…

I’m no Maxis rep who would probably be able to explain how it works with exquisite detail, but i was told specifically the speed can go UP TO 3.6Mbps, but im sure not everyone can obtain the maximum speed everytime right? Just my two cents :)

Yea! Just to share a comment here, consumer out there should really test it before subscribe. hope Wimax can be better than 3G. Cheers
