A lot of people have asked about that girl,
not TGCynthia, but that infamous drawing of a doll in my blogs.
Who she was, what she represented, is she mine.

She who sat in the background of my old xanga blog staring coyly at you, and now currently on my top banner,
she with the bright blue hair and babydoll top (lingerie?) and the stuffed animals,
she whom I call my hoochie mama.
And is she mine?
Although most of you don’t know that I used to draw a lot; emphasis on keywords a lot and err, used to, before i sold my soul to ACCA
The hoochie mama artwork is definitely not mine.
She, and a whole line of characters called Fafinettes, belongs to the famous Parisian graffiti artist Fafi.

I’d be a little surprised if anyone does not know or heard of Fafi,
with her recent collaborations with LeSportsac, Adidas, MAC cosmetics, and others,
whose art speaks so loudly to so many girls out there including me.
And how often do artists get recognition for their work while they are still alive? :)
She’s brilliant. I adore her style, her colours, her doodles she leave on the streets of Paris,
her insanely wild imagination, her bold sexuality.

On the streets.

Fafi Adidas.

Fafi Coke.

Fafi MAC.

As far as imagination goes, she decided that her Fafinettes do not just live in the pages of her sketchbook or on the walls of the streets,
Fafinettes live in another world, The Carmine Vault,
living in harmony with Hmilos and Birtak.

Hmilos are little depressed beasts. Some of them are big and Fafinettes can ride on top of them like elephants, but some are baby Hmilos and they are very small. The only thing that makes them happy is to brush Fafinette’s hair with their brush-like teeth.

Birtak is a little four-legged creature who was once a pirate, and after being fed up with robbery and ever-lasting trips seeking for treasure islands, he decided to become a ballerina. Mean Fafinettes wanted to punish him by cutting off one of his legs, but he still came to Paris to a big city opera to become a dancer.

Eh i am not making these stories up ok!

Fafi created a whole world with friendly creatures for her Fafinettes to play with, so whimsical
Reminds me of when I was reading The Little Prince
about the world in the eyes of another.

But I suppose what attracted me most to these innocent little Fafinettes, among all the other artistic cartoon characters I’ve ever been fortunate enough to discover, is that,
beyond their sweet, happy pappy, rainbows and lollipops demeanor lies a seemingly dark nature to these innocent little characters,
or at least that’s my personal interpretation.

Similar to my love for Blythe dolls.
The ones which everyone tells me I’m crazy and that those dolls are freaky and borderline satanic (think Chucky’s Bride) and for God’s sake take Cynthia that picture off your blog or I’ll never enter it again!
but still I adore them to bits :)
I have one Blythe doll in my room and I named her Emily Rose.
Ah, my sarcastic humour.

And as far as what they mean to me, the hoochie mama(s) represent bold femininity.
And if such things exists, an alter ego, if you will.
Whether it be through art or music that speaks to me, dance, switching to that darker quieter contemplative side, or just my random hooligan-istic behaviour,

that person I am, or become, partially or wholly,

That’s the hoochie mama :)

But on the other hand, yalah maybe I’m just delirious, what with little human-like girls in provocatively innocent clothing speaking to me.

I’ve had the privillege to perform as a character one time, and when I saw the wig that they gave me,
no problems getting into character for me.
The alter ego emerged and heh, i had a great time that night.

So educational yah, this post!
Even for myself I researched so much and got so engrossed til i now know the details of even the characters, meehee.
